Saint Brigid

• St. Brigid Born in Dundalk in 450 AD •

Proffessed a nun by St. Mel of Longford who was the nephew of St. Patrick.

St. Brigid was the founder of the first monastery in County Kildare, Ireland.

Her father was a pagan chieftain of Leinster, and her mother was a Christian.

St Patrick inspired her to deepen her faith and spread the word of God. •

She is one of the Patron Saints of Ireland, along with St Patrick and St Columcille. •

Patron Saints of Parents that are unmarried as her parents were.

• She died at 74 years old in Kildare. • Initially buried at St. Brigids Cathedral in Kildare but later exumed and moved to DownPatrick in County Down.

• Her Schull then was moved to Lisbon in Portugal, where her mother was a slave.
